Apparently Bruce has written a pilot for a comedy series called "Carpoolers" which has been picked up by ABC.  Just thought you ought to know.   Wink                                                                                                                                                         http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/news/networktv/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003536736

I read that and reread it and I'm not sure about it. It has hints of Bruce in it, but I never really laughed out loud. It feels the wrong kind of awkward. I believe in Bruce, though, and I'll probably enjoy it more as a show than as a piece of writing.

Ah but Bruce's sense of humor has never been one where you 'laugh out loud' anyway. Remember all his bizarre movies in the past. It does make me wonder if his dry, ironic sense of humor will really translate... but then again he did used to write for SNL so maybe it will all be okay.

See, I get that. Bruce is Bruce. I have gotten so used to his style that I laugh out loud at it.  I liked Dog Park and have a real affinity for the country mix tape and dating chain part of it. Plus, I tend to laugh out loud at stuff that others don't and vice versa. I love those tiny little things that people throw in and it's awkward to be in an audience where I'm the only one laughing at it. Oh, and I do blame the Kids for that.  Wink

He used to write for SNL, but not much of his stuff got on air and I don't know if any is in reruns.

In any case, I just didn't find this script that funny. There were, probably, two areas that I really felt Bruce in. Maybe I just don't like him doing sitcoms. Again, when I see it, that's when I'll make my final decision.

There will always be a problem with first episodes where you have to introduce characters and the style of the show. The first episode is very rarely one of the best. That's why I'm trying to pass as little judgement as I can. But, I'm just being honest. I don't think it's up to his capabilities as a writer.

I didn't find it that funny reading it either, but I am sure how it's acted out will have something to do with how it comes across too. I hope it works out.
